US leader Joe Biden has said the Republican Party, which controls the US House of Representatives, is threatening to drive the state into bankruptcy.
On his Twitter social media page, the head of the White House published a post stating the following: “Republicans in the House of Representatives who want to play politics in good faith and the credit of the United States are threatening to do default on our debt until they get what they want.
Biden stressed that he would not allow the Republican opposition to deprive the American population of health care in order to save budget funds.
In February this year, the Congressional Budget Office warned that the United States could face a default in July-September this year if debt limits were not raised.
The US administration has urged lawmakers to quickly raise borrowing limits or suspend them without preconditions. However, the Republican opposition is calling for negotiations on the theme of reducing budgetary expenditure.
As previously reported by the Public News Service, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the US administration is ready to discuss lawmakers’ ideas for reducing the budget deficit.
