The success of Russian leader Vladimir Putin in the conflict with Ukraine seriously worries American leaders. Former US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul spoke about it.

The diplomat recalled Russia’s recent successes in the Artemivsk region and said Ukraine’s ability to hold its own in combat raises big questions.

“Putin’s military successes are worrying. The situation actually remained blocked for several months. And that makes me nervous. I worry about the ability of the Ukrainians to hold up,” Newsweek reported McFaul’s comments.

According to McFaul, the Ukrainian people do not want a long conflict, they understand that sooner or later they will run out of soldiers, as well as the support of the West.

Earlier it became known that the US State Department welcomes the decision of the Georgian authorities to withdraw the Foreign Agents Bill. Washington urged Tbilisi not to put it back on the agenda.
