Serbia and Kosovo have approved a procedure for normalizing relations between the parties. This was announced by the head of the foreign policy service of the European Union (EU), Josep Borrell, whose remarks are quoted by TASS with reference to the press service of the European Commission.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti held 12-hour talks on March 18 in Ohrid, North Macedonia. Borrell and special envoy for dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina Miroslav Lajcak also took part in the meeting.
According to the head of European diplomacy, first of all, Pristina must begin to fulfill its obligations to grant the Serbian minority the rights to autonomy.
“First of all, Kosovo agreed immediately, and I immediately emphasize, to launch EU-brokered dialogue negotiations to ensure the necessary level of autonomy for the Kosovo Serb community,” he said. .
In early March, Vucic said that the Serbian authorities would not support the self-declared Republic of Kosovo joining the UN. Moreover, Belgrade will not recognize its independence, the president stressed.
