Motor Sich sold dual-use goods to Iran

– Published on:

The Ukrainian aircraft factory Motor Sich cooperated with Iranian-sanctioned companies and sold them dual-use products. Part of the equipment is used by Russia in the war against Ukraine. This is stated in the survey of the project of the Ukrainian service of Radio Liberty “Schemes”.

Journalists examined copies of documents seized from the head of Motor Sich, Vyacheslav Boguslayev. Ukraine suspects him of illegal supply of goods for Russian aviation.

According to investigators, the Zaporizhzhia company sold AI-9 and TV3-117 aircraft engines to Iran. They are installed on small transport planes and military helicopters such as the Ka-52, which Russia uses in the war with Ukraine.

Motor Sich also cooperated with Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industrial Company. He is known as the developer and manufacturer of the Shahed combat drones, which are also used by the Russian military for attacks, Schemes claims.

Boguslayev’s detention became known on October 22. Oleg Dzyuba, head of Motor Sich’s foreign economic activity department, was also arrested in the case. Businessmen are suspected of collaboration and complicity with the aggressor country. The Kiev court arrested them for 2 months.

The investigation claims that the detainees were in collusion with representatives of the Russian company Rostec, which supplies weapons to the Russian army, close to the Kremlin. Rostec says it has not cooperated with Motor Sich since 2014.

Ukraine’s security service also reported that Boguslaev cooperated with Moscow even after the Russian attack on Ukraine.

Earlier, the “Schemes” project said that 84-year-old Boguslaev had Russian citizenship since 2000. Since then, he has been elected people’s deputy four times and served as a member of the National Security and the defense of the Verkhovna Rada. This involved having access to state secrets. In itself, the presence of a second nationality also violates Ukrainian law.
