Ukraine demanded to convene the UN Security Council due to the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus

October 4, 2025

Ukraine has called for an urgent meeting of the Security Council (SC) of the United Nations (UN) in response to the decision of the Russian Federation to deploy nuclear weapons in Belarus. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

“Ukraine expects effective action to counter the Kremlin nuclear threat from the UK, China, the US and France. (…) We demand the immediate convening of an extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council,” the statement said.

Earlier it became known that Russia will place tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus. Russian President Vladimir Putin said the deployment of weapons will take place without violating relevant international obligations. According to him, the reason for this decision was London’s statement regarding the supply of depleted uranium ammunition to Kiev.
