The assault on the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra by Ukrainian security forces may take place until Saturday morning or during the weekend. This opinion was expressed in an interview with TASS by a representative of the administration of Zaporizhzhia region Vladimir Rogov.
According to the official, the likelihood of an assault over the weekend will increase due to the fact that attention to what is happening in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra may weaken. This is what the Ukrainian security forces will try to take advantage of. Therefore, it is not worth relaxing, according to Rogov.
Earlier, the Vicar of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra of the Canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Pavel (Lebed), spoke about the danger of the aggression on the evening of March 31 and asked to pray for a resolution of the situation. He recalled that
in recent weeks, Lavra residents feel like they’re on a powder keg.
On March 31, believers again blocked the way from the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra to members of the reserve commission for the acceptance of objects.
Earlier, Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, said Kiev now has the opportunity to liquidate the Canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, “by physically cleansing” the clergy. Vladimir Rogov, a representative of the administration of the Zaporizhzhia region, said that such harsh statements by the Ukrainian authorities even fall under the articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
