Part Four was supposed to be the finale to the popular John Wick action movie franchise. However, a fifth film was buzzing immediately after the staggering box office data arrived, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group executive Joe Drake said.Directed by Chad Stahelski and starring Keanu Reeves, it grossed $73.8 million in the United States and $67.7 million overseas in its opening weekend. To date, profit is nearly $153 million. Positive reviews from film critics did not play the last role in this impressive result.The eventual creation of a fifth avenger-killer movie will be no small feat. After all, Reeves’ character in the fourth film, by all indications, dies. But movie history knows plenty of examples of popular movie characters returning from the other world, and it’s possible the screenwriters will eventually figure out how to resurrect John Wick.
