It is astronomically expected that the number of days for a month for this year will be 29 days, as the first day of the holy month began on Thursday, March 23, and will continue for a period of 29 days, according to astronomical calculations, after which Eid al-Fitr will come on Friday, April 21, 2023. The crescent of the month of Shawwal will be sighted in most countries Arab and Islamic on the evening of Ramadan 28 1444 AH, corresponding to Thursday, April 20, 2023.

The date of sighting the crescent, Ramadan 2023, is astronomically expected for the crescent of the month of Shawwal to be born immediately after the conjunction occurs at exactly 5:14 pm Mecca Al-Mukarramah time on Thursday 29 Ramadan 1444 corresponding to April 20, 2023, which is the day of sighting. The new crescent will remain in the sky of Makkah Al-Mukarramah for 23 minutes after sunset that day. As for the Arab and Islamic capitals and cities, the new crescent will remain after sunset on that day for periods ranging between 10 and 35 minutes; Thus, the beginning of the month of Shawwal 1444 astronomically will be on Friday, corresponding to April 21, 2023, which is the day of the blessed Eid Al-Fitr. But if the crescent was not observed on that day, then it will be Friday, which completes the month of Ramadan, and the month will complete 30 days, so that Saturday, April 22 is the first day of the feast.

Expectations of the date of the Eid al-Fitr holiday in various Arab and Islamic countries:

Qatar

The official holidays in ministries and other government agencies and public bodies and institutions are usually as follows: Eid Al-Fitr holiday from the 28th day of Ramadan to the end of the fourth day of the month of Shawwal. If the days of the official holidays are interspersed with an official or weekly holiday, the number of holidays shall be added to the aforementioned holidays. If the interval between two official holidays is one working day, it is considered a holiday within the two holidays.

Saudi Arabia

It is expected that it will start from Friday, April 21 for the private sector, and will continue until Monday, the 24th of the same month. As for the government sector, it is expected that the Eid holiday will begin on Tuesday, April 18, and that official working hours will return on Tuesday, April 25.

The UAE is expected to start from Thursday, April 20, and continue until Monday, the 24th of the same month, according to Al Jazeera.

Palestine starts from Friday, April 21, to last for 4 days for the government sector, meaning it will end on Monday, April 24. While the holiday continues for 3 days for private sector employees, to start from Friday, April 21, until Sunday, corresponding to the 23 of it.

Lebanon-Syria-Jordan-Sudan-Yemen-Bahrain-Iraq-Egypt-Oman

Tunisia – Libya – Mauritania – Somalia – Comoros – Kuwait The Eid al-Fitr holiday begins in Tunisia on Friday, April 21st, and continues until Sunday evening, the 23rd of it.


Morocco expects that the Eid al-Fitr holiday in Morocco will start from the 29th of Ramadan, corresponding to Thursday, the 20th of April, until Sunday the 23rd of it. Algeria starts from Friday, April 21, to Saturday, the 22nd of the same month.

Islamic countries in Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, Ghana and India, it is expected that the astronomical holiday in these countries will be on Friday, April 21, and these countries usually give 3 days off on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. Accordingly, the leave begins on Friday and ends on Sunday, April 23. Turkey starts in the middle (afternoon) on Thursday, April 20, until Sunday, the 22nd of the same month. And because Sunday is a weekly holiday in the country, normal working hours will return on Monday, April 24.
