Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has imposed sanctions on a number of Russian citizens, including Ksenia Shoigu, president of the Triathlon Federation and daughter of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. The organization said the introduction of restrictions “does not lend itself to reasonable explanation”.
“If only it really hurt anyone that Ksenia Shoigu would provide targeted aid and support children’s sports in new areas,” the federation said in a statement posted on Telegram.
The humanitarian mission will continue, as people’s support has been and will be more important than “a few crazy lists”, the organizations added.
Ksenia Shoigu has been the President of the Russian Triathlon Federation since December 2020.
Earlier it became known that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy imposed sanctions on more than 80 Russian athletes and representatives of sports organizations, including figure skater Ilya Averbukh and footballer Igor Akinfeev.
