Today, Friday, Qatari media website monitored Twitter’s withdrawal of the blue authentication mark from a large number of official accounts of ministries in Qatar and local newspapers, including Qatari media, well-known organizations and companies, and accounts of media organizations around the world.
According to preliminary monitoring, Twitter withdrew the blue authentication mark from the accounts of ministries, including: Interior, Foreign Affairs, Endowments, Islamic Affairs, Health, Trade and Industry, Education and Higher Education, Environment and Climate Change, Municipality, Defense, Transportation and Communications, Information Technology, Labor and Social Development, and Family.
The withdrawal of the authentication mark also affected official accounts of various parties, including: Qatar Airways, Hamad Medical Corporation, the Government of Qatar and a number of local newspapers.
And globally, Agence France-Presse said today, Friday, that there are many prominent pages on Twitter around the world that have lost the blue mark.
The French indicated that this comes the day after the platform stripped international celebrities from various fields, including Pope Francis, Donald Trump and Beyoncé, of the blue verification mark for their Twitter accounts, after the platform owned by Elon Musk carried out its threat to withdraw this famous mark from anyone who does not pay for verification.
The blue tick also disappeared from the accounts of personalities such as Justin Bieber, Cristiano Ronaldo, Bill Gates or Lady Gaga, as well as from the accounts of many journalists, university professors and activists, including even Jack Dorsey, the founder of Twitter.
