Kolkata/Siliguri. Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has started a two-month ‘Jono Sanjog Yatra’ ahead of the panchayat elections in West Bengal. At the same time, Mr. Banerjee said that no one is above party discipline and no one can blackmail the party for election tickets.
Mr. Banerjee, nephew of Trinamool Congress chief and Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, said, “This is a democracy, I am not undermining anyone, but no one is above the discipline of the party.” “No one can blackmail the party for election ticket. The ‘Trinamool Nabo Jowar’ (New Tide in Trinamool) campaign will bring forth candidates who will actually work for the welfare of the people.
He said, “There are some mischievous elements who have built a wall between you and your CM. We are trying to bring down that wall through Trinamool Nabo Jowar.’ Mr. Banerjee reiterated that through secret ballot, people can choose their favorite candidates for the upcoming rural elections. “(There) will be no horse-trading and manipulation!” he said.
