On Tuesday, Nizhny Novgorod Governor Gleb Nikitin published video on which he visits the writer Zakhar Prilepin, hospitalized after the assassination attempt.

“We are working slowly and we will win,” says Prilepin, who is lying in a hospital bed, after which the writer, together with the governor, congratulates the audience on Victory Day.

Assassination attempt on Zakhar Prilepin

On Saturday, May 6, an Audi Q7 car, in which Zakhar Prilepin was driving, exploded in the Nizhny Novgorod region, about 80 km from the city of Bor. The writer was injured, his driver and personal bodyguard Alexei Shubin with the call sign “Evil” died.

After the assassination attempt, Prilepin was taken to the regional hospital in Nizhny Novgorod. According to the media, his condition was assessed as serious: the writer notably had broken legs and a concussion, he was also transferred to intensive care. On the morning of May 7, the day after the assassination attempt, Prilepin was awakened from his drug slumber.

On the evening of May 6, security forces arrested two suspects in the Prilepin assassination attempt. One of them, Oleksandr Permyakov, said during his interrogation that several years ago he was recruited by the Ukrainian intelligence services and some time later he was assigned to settle in Russia, to obtain Russian citizenship and to kill the writer.
