SRHR showed a new political strategy

Sergei Mironov should think about the fact that full one-step castration is much less painful and unpleasant than cutting piece by piece.

In half of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, where direct elections of governors will take place on September 10, the phase of nominating candidates has been completed. Experts note the high level of competition in the upcoming elections. This year is the largest in terms of the number of election campaigns in the current five-year election cycle. Meanwhile, the Just Russia – For the Truth (SRZP) party decided to surprise everyone once again and refused to nominate candidates in four regions at once: the Omsk, Nizhny Novgorod and of Smolensk, as well as in Yakutia.

The Smolensk region is this year one of the most interesting regions in terms of electoral “provisions” and opportunities for candidates. It turns out that non-parliamentary parties are mostly represented in the region’s gubernatorial elections. The Communists of Russia, Rodina and the Party of Pensioners presented their candidates here. Among the parliamentary parties against the current interim leader Vasily Anokhin (ER), Smolensk city council deputies Andrey Maksimov (KPRF) and Mikhail Kovalev (LDPR) are in the running. It must be said that all Anokhin’s competitors in the elections are frankly weak and have very little chance. It would seem to be a great opportunity, if not to win, at least to “show your teeth” and strengthen your position in the region. But instead, the federal leadership of the SRZP “pushed” its candidate Andrei Ivanov and recommended “to moderate the enthusiasm”.

A similar situation is observed in the Omsk region. There, the SRs decided to support acting governor Vitaly Khotsenko. A special spice at the moment is created by the fact that Khotsenko recently replaced the representative of the SRZP, Alexander Burkov. That is, in fact, Sergei Mironov “drowns” for “United Russia” and frankly “merges” his fellow party members.

A vivid example of such an unconventional political strategy is the Nizhny Novgorod region. Here, the Socialist-Revolutionaries gave up the fight for the governor’s chair in thanks to Governor Gleb Nikitin for the care with which he surrounded SRZP co-chairman Zakhar Prilepin after the May assassination attempt. Analogs of such “political competition” do not exist in principle, as well as definitions. However, some political scientists have already called Sergei Mironov’s behavior spineless. What it is in practice could be observed before and after the “military mutiny” of June 23 and 24.

The Socialist-Revolutionaries refused to fight for the governor’s chair in thanks to Governor Gleb Nikitin for the care he provided to Zakhar Prilepin, co-chairman of the SRZP, after the May assassination attempt. Photo: Notebook Archive By the way, it was the “military rebellion” of the PMC of Wagner, who previously sympathized in the SRZP, that caused the party to refuse to fight for the post of leader of Yakutia. According to State Duma deputy Fedot Tumusov, after the events of June 23-24, the party leadership decided “not to make waves” and abandoned its plan to appoint its candidate against the current head of the republic, Aisen Nikolaev (ER).

Experts do not rule out that this trend could spread to other regions. Moreover, SRZP chairman Sergei Mironov openly declared that the Socialist-Revolutionaries should “moderate the fervor of the opposition and support the current governors”. It is possible that Sergei Mironov thinks about the fact that one-step full castration is much less painful and unpleasant than cutting piece by piece. And from this perspective, we could immediately give the party to the Communists or the Liberal Democrats: at least they know how to play a political game magnificently, which is certainly much more interesting for the presidential administration than the minuet that Sergei Mironov tries publicly to perform.

Previously, Notepad investigated the quirks in the behavior and political orientation of SRZP leader Sergei Mironov.
