His political commitment was born in the “yellow vests”. Ingrid Levavasseur may have suffered insults and humiliation last year, but the nursing assistant at 170 TV stations is a candidate for the municipal elections in Louviers (Eure), in the second position on a list supported by EELV, LFI, the PCF.
“I am not saying that the negative does not affect me but I prefer to retain the positive. I have received thousands and thousands of messages from people who said to me + we need you + (…) invisible people who were counting on me to say how unfair it is to live in these conditions. And I had enormous support from my loved ones. For me it is beautiful, “said the young red-haired woman, 32, bright look, soft and calm voice.
“You are a ray of sunshine in our life”, “you have a rectitude that no one can shake”: On the Facebook page of the “ex-yellow cardigan” who is raising her two children alone, recent comments would almost forget the “collaborators” and other insults whose sexism has often redoubled the violence.
“He is a political leader in the making, with a very strong training capacity,” assures this enarch who left the PS in 2015.
This admirer of Pierre Mendes France, of which Louviers was the fief, is even already thinking of legislative elections. “Naivety does not make me an idiotic person”, specifies this woman on the left who “works on instinct”, according to Philippe Brun.
With “the movement of + yellow vests +, I got a taste for politics. I still have a lot to learn but I will continue to swallow this political culture again and again to serve the general interest”, explains the young woman.
Much in demand by the media, Ingrid Levavasseur had gradually turned her back on a good part of the movement.

It paid dearly for its desire to dialogue with the government, its (aborted) plans to list Europeans (within particular a former member of LREM) and to write about BFM.
On February 17, 2019, during a demonstration in Paris, the one who in her book “Stay dignified” denounces police violence, finds herself caught in a vice of hostile demonstrators, “believes to die”, before being exfiltrated. The next day, she was “humiliated” in front of her son during a demonstration in Bernay (Eure). She then puts away in the closet her yellow jacket covered with slogans for the people and the planet and will no longer demonstrate.
“What I suffered from a very small fact that today I am as strong,” says the one who experienced bouts of violence from her father, her stepfather and then her husband.
Today faced with five lists (that of the outgoing mayor Modem, an LREM, a PRG, an RN, and a DVG), the former “yellow vest” promises in particular local referendums for any investment project of more than one million euros, a 30% drop in allowances for elected officials, a 10% increase in the school budget, without tax increases.
Some regret that this list on the left “departs from the original pluralism of + yellow vests +”, even if 27 of the 33 candidates are new to politics.
The young woman is cold with the spokesperson of the “yellow vests” Rouennais, the lawyer Francois Boulo.
But she kept in touch with certain figures in the movement such as Jerome Rodrigues.
“I really appreciate this woman. She has worked all her life but she has a life force,” said the plumber who became a symbol of police violence after losing an eye during a demonstration. “The only thing where she + fucked up + was this contract with BFM: she would have started to eat in the same bowl as those we denounce. But we can excuse her. We are not of this world; you can quickly get caught up, “he adds.
