WORMS – “Karantena.tv” is going really well. Now even two studios are broadcasting in parallel because many have signed up who want to be there, whether they are cultural professionals or dance teachers. The WZ is also participating: with a “The Eastern Herald Corona Talk” on Easter Saturday evening, April 11, 6 p.m. Worms political scientist Karl-Rudolf Korte, director of the NRW School of Governance, and WZ editor-in-chief Johannes Gotzen talk about “Politics and the media in a state of emergency”.
Dance studio of the Prinz Carl dance school becomes a TV room
All cultural events are canceled due to the corona pandemic, dance classes cannot currently be given as usual. Five Worms brought this together: In the dance studio of the Prinz Carl dance school, a television studio was set up, which sometimes has the character of a living room, sometimes becomes a virtual dance room or a gym. Streaming is live from here. After initial stutters, the technology has been running smoothly for a long time, reports Peter Englert, one of the initiators. There is a breakfast television, a metal dance course, reading hours, breakdance for children or life concerts with the artist collective “Steezy”, guitarist Rolf Bachmann, baroque music by the Schmitt couple and more.
The appointment calendar filled up so that a second studio was needed. So Christian Ruppel from Medienpark Vision moved in again with helping hands and technical material, so that streaming can now also take place from a second dance studio. The big advantage: Between two shipments, everything must of course be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. Because the two studios are now broadcasting alternately, there is more time for this without too long “pauses”.
Singer and actor Peter Englert takes the situation with humor when he says that as an artist they have nothing to do at the moment anyway, so they do living room concerts and bring the culture directly to the viewers’ sofa via the Internet. But of course the corona crisis is existential for musicians or actors. Karantena.tv is offered free of charge. But every donation is very welcome, there is a donation button on the homepage. “It works so slowly,” says Englert, at least they can finance electricity and the Internet from it.
Politics and the media are also in a state of emergency. Professor Karl-Rudolf Korte and Johannes Gotzen want to talk about this on Easter Saturday from 6 p.m. Korte is known as a political commentator for ZDF, but also observes local politics not only in these times. The WZ is of course also affected by the Coronavirus, the reporters have to process their news and reports from their home office, which are extremely important for many people, especially in these times. So there is enough material for the first “The Eastern Herald Corona Talk”.
