Bogota (TEH) – The Colombian singer Shakira thanked the residents of her hometown Barranquilla for her behavior in the Corona crisis. With a view to the fact that many now stayed at home, she wrote on Twitter on Tuesday: “This is how you continue to protect risk groups.” The 43-year-old had taken the birthday of the port city as an occasion to congratulate her on founding 207 years ago.

Shakira was born and raised in Barranquilla on the Colombian Caribbean coast before moving to Florida at the age of 17 in Colombia’s capital, Bogotá, and then on to the United States to advance her career.

Today she lives in Barcelona, ​​but is still connected to Colombia. Colombia’s President Iván Duque had exit restrictions that should end on April 13, but extended from Monday to April 27. Schools and universities are even said to be closed until the end of May. In the South American country, the number of corona people was recently over 1,500 and 46 people have died in connection with the virus so far
