Jean Todt defends Australia’s late Formula 1 cancellation

Berlin – Jean Todt subsequently justified the cancellation of the Formula 1 start in Melbourne just before the first free practice session.

The 74-year-old president of the International Automobile Federation sees no mistakes from those involved in the procedure in mid-March. “It’s the easiest thing to blame people during this time,” said Todt in a post from the online portal “Motorsport-Total.com”: “I find it unfair to criticize what happened in Australia.”

Only after a suspected Corona case was confirmed by a member of the McLaren team and the latter then cancelled his participation in the Australian Grand Prix, was the complete cancellation. “I think it was the right decision to go to Australia,” said Todt. «It is important that we can accept the wrong choice and mistakes. But I don’t think Australia is a mistake. »
