Stielike wants to end coaching career after involvement in China

– Published on:

Bochum – Uli Stielike does not want to continue his career as a football coach after the end of his contract with the Chinese club Tianjin Teda.

The 65-year-old emphasized in an interview at sport1.de neither in Germany nor anywhere else that he wanted a new contract. Despite the Corona crisis, he does not want to stop prematurely in China.

«At the moment it would be easier to say that the contract will be terminated, but I signed it and the people in the club and in the area rely on it. Especially the players» said Stielike. He expects the season to end in mid-December. Then he wants to retire in Andalusia.

The former assistant coach of the German national team and a former national player has been training in China since September 2017.

Most recently, however, Stielike was in Bochum in two-week domestic quarantine after a family member had tested positive for the Sars-CoV-2 virus.
