Fadl Shaker: I will not surrender myself to the Lebanese authorities

– Published on:

Lebanese sources said on Saturday, that the artist Fadl Shaker refuses to surrender himself to the Lebanese authorities, after the military court issued two sentences against him, imprisoning him for 22 years with hard labor, in addition to stripping him of his civil rights.

Special sources told The Eastern Herald that the artist Fadel Shaker will not surrender, as was said to the Lebanese Army Intelligence, to end his pending file at the Permanent Military Court in Beirut within the framework of the Abra events, which claimed the lives of a number of Lebanese army officers and soldiers.

The sources said that severe sentences were issued against Shaker in absentia, and his issue is completely different from what happened with his brother, Fadi Shamandar, who was forced to leave Ain El-Hilweh camp and surrender to the army as a result of a health crisis. He was later released.

Financing an armed gang

According to the sources, the Lebanese artist knows that judicial rulings will be implemented against him despite his acquittal of the charge of fighting in the battle of Abra against the Lebanese army, but there are other accusations that followed him, including financing an armed gang, knowing that Fadl confirmed that he handed over the weapons of the young men who were with him at that time to the intelligence Lebanese army.

The case of the artist Fadel Shaker is still arousing interest in Lebanon, after the military court issued two sentences against him, imprisoning him for 22 years with hard labor, in addition to stripping him of his civil rights, based on charges he denies altogether.

The first ruling sentenced Shaker to 15 years in prison for the crime of “interfering in terrorist acts committed by terrorists with his knowledge of the matter by providing them with logistical services.”

As for the second ruling, he was imprisoned for 7 years and fined 5 million pounds for the crime of financing the armed “Ahmed al-Assir Group” and “spending on it and securing the price of weapons and ammunition for it.”

Shaker, who retired from art in 2012 before returning to it in 2018, confirms his innocence of all charges against him, considering them “politicized”.

Since 2018, he has released songs from time to time and publishes them through his YouTube account.
