Khabarovsk Amur continued their winning streak by beating Avangard at home

February will certainly not be easy for Amur. It all started with a game with the then leader of the East and continued with a game with one of the most dangerous teams in terms of attack – Omsk Avangard, typical for Martemyanov and Kravets is well known in Khabarovsk. Both at one point did a lot for Amour, but now they have come to Khabarovsk as rivals – to take points from the Tigers, who are vital for Amour. Khabarovsk “Siberia” passed, having risen to ninth place, now it is “Vanguard”.

At the end of the round robin, the Khabarovsk team showed very good hockey, multiplied by the desire to win. The youngsters, who finally played and felt comfortable, particularly succeeded in this. Nevertheless, the first period of the Khabarovsk team starts a little relaxed which he pays the price. Avangard’s first majority ended with a goal against Janis Kalnins. Scored in the 6th minute by Reed Boucher. However, Amur did not leave this unanswered. Added on the move and ten minutes later managed to level the score.

The second period “Amur” had a good time, taking the lead on the site, while the guests lost a little, still not losing the highest speed. In the 28th minute, Nikita Grebenkin extended the lead. He intercepts the puck himself in his zone, gives it to Sergei Dubakin with a cutting pass and already receives it in front of the goal. Great pass, great performance. One more puck was missing to secure the victory for Amur. The people of Khabarovsk tried, but the people of Omsk managed to resist.

But “Amur” missed in the 59th minute of the match, allowing the opponent to transfer the game to extra time. Only a minute and 54 seconds were not enough for the “tigers” to take two points without giving a single one to their opponents. But, the defense yawned, and Korben Knight didn’t miss. Almost all of the extra time, “Amur” played in the minority, but managed not to cash. The outcome of the match was to be decided in a series of post-match shootouts. It seems that Amur has very little chance of winning. But that’s just what it seemed.

Ivan Nikolishin was the first to have the right to test the strength of Vasily Demchenko – a goal. Behind him, Sergei Tolchinsky hits Janis Kalnins. • In attack we had only one game in the third period. At the start of the game, the Amour hockey players wanted more than us. Here you need to play rationally, complete the task. You don’t have to run up front and score a hundred goals, you just have to play smart and not make the mistakes we made today when we conceded. What does it mean if you have enough strength for the second game in two days? It’s our job, we have to get those strengths, but the most important thing, as I’ve noted before, is to play rationally. Yes, I was square-headed this morning. Maybe tomorrow will be better. Semyon Chistyakov did not play from the second period, because the puck hit him in the ribs, pierced. They did an x-ray and there was nothing to worry about. But tomorrow we have to do another check, – said Mikhail Kravets, head coach of HC Avangard.

• I liked the content of today’s match, especially the second period, where we dominated our opponents on shots. The third goal was missing, which could decide everything in regulation time. Unfortunately, in their zone at the end, those minutes and a half didn’t last. But there is this great desire to win, it is necessary. Ignat Korotkikh deserved to play in the KHL with his performance in the MHL. He works very well, his link looks great, – said Vadim Yepanchintsev, head coach of HC Amur.
