The United States and Poland have jointly demanded that Russia withdraw from Ukraine

– Published on:

The United States and Poland demanded that Russia withdraw from Ukrainian territory within its internationally recognized borders and expressed their intention to continue to support Ukraine’s right to be protected from a war of Russian aggression.

This is indicated by a joint declaration adopted at the end of the 14th session of the American-Polish strategic dialogue, which was held on Thursday in Warsaw.

The State Department document says the session took place nearly a year after the Russian invasion of Ukraine began amid the greatest threat to European security since World War II.

“Russian aggression in Ukraine has had an enormous impact on the Euro-Atlantic community and has resulted in significant negative consequences globally,” the statement said. “By violating the fundamental principles of the rules-based international order, Russia has demonstrated that it is not a reliable partner and must be held accountable. We remain determined to ensure that Russian aggression against Ukraine remains a strategic failure [Kremlin]”.

The United States and Poland have called on Belarus, North Korea and Iran to stop supporting Russia, and on China to stop reinforcing the Kremlin’s false instructions.

“The United States and Poland reiterate that Russia must keep Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders…We reaffirm our commitment to continue to provide Ukraine with the necessary military assistance for self-defense , to support humanitarian aid and to work together to rebuild Ukraine,” the statement reads joint statement.

He goes on to say that Washington and Warsaw will continue their consultations on further restrictive measures against Russia and Belarus, and are determined to increase sanctions until Russia ends the war and withdraws its troops from Ukraine. In particular, the parties intend to identify the practice of circumvention of sanctions by third country jurisdictions, the statement said.

“By introducing additional restrictive measures and ensuring their implementation, we must prove to Russia and other potential aggressors that starting a war is not only wrong from a moral point of view, but that it leads to also very difficult economic consequences”, underlines the document.

The 14th U.S.-Polish Strategic Dialogue was hosted by the Polish Foreign Ministry. Representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defence, Energy and Climate and other departments participated from Warsaw. On the Washington side, the participants were representatives of the State Department, the Pentagon and the Department of Energy.
