helping Ukraine with weapons is the shortest path to peace

Helping to arm Ukraine is the fastest way to achieve peace, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley said in an article published on Sunday.

“Like all authoritarian leaders, Putin reacts only to the strength of his opponents,” Cleverly wrote in the Times of Malta.

Let us recall that at the beginning of February, the presidency of the UN Security Council passed to Malta.

Cleverly added that he was happy that Germany and the United States joined the United Kingdom in agreeing to send tanks to Ukraine.

“Giving Ukrainians the tools they need to get the job done is the fastest way and, indeed, the only way to achieve peace,” he wrote.

The war in Ukraine is expected to be the main subject of negotiations between the UK and Malta.

Malta has pledged to help Ukraine by implementing EU sanctions and providing humanitarian aid, including medical supplies and generators. A small number of Ukrainian soldiers are treated in Maltese clinics.

The UK and Malta, a former British colony, have traditionally had close ties. The UK is Malta’s main source of tourism and one of its main trading partners.
