The incident happened around 11:50 a.m. near the entrance to the Gostiny Dvor metro station. Initially, the publication wrote that the riot policeman was shot in the chest with a traumatic weapon. Subsequently, “Fontanka” reported that they opened fire on the security guard with the buckshot of a sawed-off shotgun. He was hospitalized with a serious stomach injury.

The alleged shooter has been arrested. By information publications, the detainee is a 50-year-old foreigner named Tigran. In his bag find “a few shotguns” and two “Molotov cocktails”. According to Fontanka, Tigran “came from Samarkand” (the capital of Uzbekistan), and in St. Petersburg he lived in Shushary.
The commission of inquiry described the incident as an attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer (article 317 of the penal code).
