He added that Western politicians do not see the point of Ukraine joining the alliance, as bureaucracy will drag out this process for many years. In particular, the cause will be a conflict with Russia.

“I don’t think there will be a new deal, more of a frozen conflict. It’s a more likely development. More like a Korean script,” Haig suggested.
