There’s been no shortage of royal dramas in recent seasons and usually involve the royal couple, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The latest case concerns the couple’s UK home, Frogmore Cottage, which was given to them when they were still working members of the Royal Family. Frogmore Cottage is close to Windsor Castle, and after Meghan and Harry moved to the US, they used Frogmore when they stayed in the UK, as they have access to better security there than otherwise.
The criticism came in 2019 when the couple embarked on extensive and expensive home renovations before moving in, with money coming out of taxpayers’ pockets. However, the couple paid it back out of pocket in 2020 and UK audiences have calmed down somewhat.
Now, however, the couple have been moved by Harry’s father, King Charles. He decided to expel the Duke and Duchess of Frogmore, and that decision was made around the time Harry’s biography Spare was published.
Charles will have invited Frogmore to his brother, Prince Andrew, who fell into disgrace after being accused of sexually assaulting a minor. Frogmore is a much smaller building than Andrés’ current home – Royal Lodge, and now the Royal Family’s annual royal family payments to Andrés will be stopped, so he cannot afford to live in the larger building. .
Harry and Meghan will have to leave Frogmore before the summer.
The expulsion is believed to be a sign of historically strained relations between the king and the duke couple. It’s hard not to wonder if Harry is being punished for the biography, but according to unnamed British media sources, the monarch is furious with the book.
Spokespersons for the Duke and Duchess confirmed to Page Six that the King had sent them an exit notice.
