A group of Bundestag deputies appealed to the German federal government, calling to stop military supplies to Kiev and join the negotiation process, reports Lenta.ru with reference to the appeal.
The document, titled “Diplomacy instead of tanks”, was prepared by a group of Left Party deputies. In addition to the call to try to resolve the conflict by diplomatic means, the appeal contains a proposal to organize work on the creation of a “long-term system of pan-European security with the participation of Russia”.
The press release indicates that the German authorities have practically limited themselves to military supplies, while the resolution of the conflict is only possible through negotiation. “Instead of favoring the continuation of this war, the federal government should finally get down to serious negotiations,” reads the text of the document.
MEPs called on the government to support the diplomatic initiative for peace talks with the participation of other states, including those from outside Europe.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz agreed at a meeting in Washington to apply sanctions pressure on Russia “as long as necessary”.
