Uncover the least and most protracted periods of abstention from food and drink in Ramadan among the Arab nations. The minimum is 12 and a half hours.

It is astronomically expected that the blessed month of Ramadan for this year 2023 will begin on Thursday, March 23, and will last 29 days, and Eid Al-Fitr will be on Friday, April 21, 2023.

Before the advent of the holy month, Muslims ask, every year, about the number of hours of fasting in different countries, as the number differs from one country to another according to latitude and longitude and the location of the country in relation to the equator.

In the following lines, we mention to you the number of hours of fasting that are shorter and longer in Ramadan 1444/2023 astronomically in the Arab countries, according to Al-Jazeera Mubasher report.

Muslims in Arab countries will fast about 15 hours a day on average, but the number of hours of fasting in the holy month varies from country to country.

** The shortest fasting hours

The Comoros will witness the shortest number of fasting hours in the Arab world in Ramadan 2023, as Muslims will fast there for only about 12 hours and 37 minutes.

** The longest hours of fasting

The Maghreb countries will generally witness the longest hours of fasting in the blessed month, and the longest will be in Algeria and Tunisia, which will reach about 15 hours and 45 minutes.

As for the rest of the Arab countries, the average number of fasting hours will be about 15 hours per day.

Here is the average number of fasting hours in each Arab country, arranged from shortest to longest:

Comoros: about 12 hours and 37 minutes.

Somalia: about 13 hours and 27 minutes.

Yemen: about 14 hours and 7 minutes.

Sudan: about 14 hours and 8 minutes.

Mauritania: about 14 hours and 15 minutes.

Qatar: about 14 hours and 15 minutes.

Syria: about 14 hours and 30 minutes.

Palestine: about 14 hours and 30 minutes.

Jordan: about 14 hours and 30 minutes.

Lebanon: about 14 hours and 30 minutes.

Kuwait: about 14 hours and 30 minutes.

Sultanate of Oman: about 14 hours and 37 minutes.

Saudi Arabia: about 14 hours and 41 minutes.

UAE: about 14 hours and 41 minutes.

Bahrain: about 14 hours and 49 minutes.

Iraq: about 15 hours

Egypt: about 15 hours.

Morocco: about 15 hours and 25 minutes.

Libya: 15 hours and 30 minutes.

Algeria: 15 hours and 45 minutes.

Tunisia: 15 hours and 45 minutes.
