Valery Fokin releases ‘REX’ premiere at Hungarian National Theater Fox News

“REX” is one of the first events of the Theater X Olympiad, which is taking place this year in Hungary. Recall that Valery Fokin is the only member of its international committee in Russia.

The show is based on a play by Kirill Fokin, which is about an alternate future. Its main character is UN Secretary General Livy Kaplan, who managed to unite all of humanity into one state. True, there is a “but” – instead of the unity he counted on, even more terrible historical cataclysms began to occur in the world. Today, the former politician is 129 years old and he wants to die in peace. However, in the world of the future, it is not so simple either: an android servant is assigned to him.

“The show consists of a series of unique encounters and dialogues that gradually reveal the protagonist’s controversial role in the story, his private life and his complex personal relationships. In the whirlwind of big ideas and deeds, it is increasingly harder for a person to maintain their true feelings,” the announcement on the theater’s website reads.

Artists from the Hungarian National Theater are involved in the performance, and the Russian production team includes artist Alexei Tregubov, Igor Kachaev (plastic), video artist Asya Mukhina and composer Anton Yakhontov.

The Tenth Anniversary Theater Olympiad will solemnly begin very soon – on April 1 in Budapest. The Hungarian National Theater is the main organizer of this international theater forum. In addition to the Alexandrinsky Theater, the program includes another Russian theater – a member of the Association of National Theaters of Russia – the Bashkir Academic Drama Theater.
