Halli posts announcement – “I understand the timing is strange”

– Published on:

Haraldur Þorleifsson, an entrepreneur, announced new news today which he says has nothing to do with what has happened in recent days. There, Haraldur, or Halli as he is known, referenced his exchanges with Twitter owner Elon Musk that caught the world’s attention.

Harald’s subscribers have grown rapidly this week, he has around 60,000 subscribers, at the time of writing it is over 232,000. “It’s something I’ve been working on for a long time and proud of but at the same timid time to reveal,” Harald said.

Now it is clear what the news is. Haraldur shared on Twitter earlier a video of the first song he is releasing as Anna Jóna Son, whose debut album is forthcoming.

He said on Twitter: “Okay, I understand the timing is weird but: when I was young, I was scared. I made music but mostly just for me. But two years ago I started working on an album and today I’m releasing the first song under the name Anna Jóna Son. ”

He then adds that the song is now available on music providers Spotify, Apple Music and Tidal.

“I’m sorry, or it will be better for you”

Ok, I understand the timing is weird but:

When I was young, I was afraid. I made music but mostly just for me.

But 2 years ago I started working on an album and today I’m releasing the first @onnujonuson song.

The song is called Almost Over you and you can listen to it below. On YouTube it is said that Anna Jóna Son is the stage name of Haraldar, who was active in the music scene in the 90s of the last century but took a long break to focus on recovering from alcoholism. He then made a career as a designer and sold his company, Ueno, to Twitter in 2021.

The name Anna Jón Son is a reference to Harald’s mother, whom he lost when he was only 11 years old. By using his mother’s name, he can keep his memory alive and use the love, the support she gave him to shield him from doubt and criticism.

The song is about finding your way out of the dark after a long night. The song is about hope and the possibility of a better future.

The video was filmed in Qeshm, a small island off the coast of Iran at a time when Iranian women were protesting and fighting for their human rights.
