The head of the National Energy Institute commented on reports of Russia’s retention of damaged Nord Stream branches.
Reuters reported that the Russian Federation intended to mothball sections of the Nord Stream gas pipeline damaged by the blasts. According to Sergei Pravosudov, director of the National Energy Institute, who spoke in an interview with MK, this is the only right decision for the Russian Federation in the current situation.
According to the expert, the step will avoid significant costs for the restoration of pipelines, which may exceed the cost of the project as a whole. In addition, European states, it seems, are not yet interested in the resumption of gas supply through flows.
It is worth thinking about repairing the systems when receiving the appropriate signals from European consumers. Therefore, it is now reasonable to abandon the idea and mothball the branches, the INE chief concluded.
Earlier, a member of the Crimean Parachute Union, sea explorer, member of the Crimean diving center Dmitry Dzhigalov reported that the version of the Ukrainian group, which could have organized explosions at the Nord Stream, raises many issues. First of all, the technical side of the situation raises doubts.
