The Qatari team’s shooters won 9 colored medals (4 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze) during their participation in the Asian Cup for Rifle and Pistol Jakarta 2023, and the first Arab Indoor Championship for Bow and Arrow in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq.
The Qatari shooter, Amal Mahmoud, managed to win the gold medal in the MIXTE rifle competition at the Asian Rifle and Pistol Championship in Jakarta, to add the second gold medal to her championship in the rifle competition, while the rest of the Qatari shooters won 8 colored medals during their participation in the Arab Championship. The first for the bow and arrow inside the halls, which is currently being held in the Iraqi city of Sulaymaniyah, with 3 golds, 3 silvers, and 2 bronzes.
The three gold medals came from: Ahmed Al-Sada in the youth singles category for the bow and arrow competition, knockout, and Ahmed Al-Sada a second gold in the bow and arrow competition in the qualifying rounds, and archers Aisha Al-Saei, Reem Al-Saei, and Sharifa Al-Obaidly in the girls’ team category for the bow and arrow competition. As for the three silver medals, the first came in the men’s team category in the traditional bow competition by archers: Qasim Awad, Hassan Ashkanani, and Ali Salem, and the second silver medal came in the men’s team category in the compound bow competition by archers: Ahmed Al-Abbadi and Abdulaziz Al-Abbadi. And Farhan Abed Rabbo, while the third silver medal was achieved in the mixed youth team category by Ahmed Al-Sada and Reem Al-Saee for the bow and arrow.
The team’s archers also won two bronze medals, the first in the girls’ singles category in the qualifiers for the traditional bow competition, by female shooter Reem Al-Sa’i, while the second bronze in the girls’ singles category was won by female shooter Reem Al-Sa’i in the knockout competition.
Mr. Jassim Shaheen Al-Sulaiti, Assistant Secretary of the Qatar Shooting, Bow and Arrow Federation, praised the achievements and trophies won by the Qatari team’s shooters during their participation in the Asian Cup for Rifle and Pistol Jakarta 2023, and the first Arab indoor championship for bow and arrow in the city of Sulaymaniyah, Iraq.
