Criticizing Jimmy Kimmel’s behavior towards Nobel Prize winners at the Oscars

– Published on:

Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel was a presenter at the Oscars last night, and he was heavily criticized for his treatment of Nobel laureate and activist Malala Yousafzai, who was among the guests at the ceremony.

Malala survived being shot in the head by the Taliban in 2012 and has campaigned for the rights of women and girls in her home country, particularly their right to education.

This drew attention when Jimmy Kimmel turned on her at the festival and tried to drag her into a rather tasteless joke.

“You work on human rights and the education of women and children, and that’s admirable. As the youngest Nobel laureate in history, do you think Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine?” , said Kimmel.

Kimmel then referred to an incident at the Venice Film Festival in September, where a video was released which many believe showed singer Harry Styles spitting on actor Chris Pines, whom they played together in the film Don. ‘t Worry Darling, but there was a lot of drama surrounding the image.

Malala responded to this by replying, “I only talk about peace”, but seemed unmoved by the intrusion and rather uncomfortable.

Jimmy replied, “You know what, that’s why you’re Malala and no one else.” This is a great answer Malala. The winner is Malala country.”

Things got even more embarrassing for Malala when someone dressed as a cocaine bear from a recent movie came crawling down the hall and bothered her. Afterwards, Kimmel yelled at the audience that the bear should leave Malala alone.

Malala later reacted to the incident on Twitter, sharing a video of the incident saying, “Treat others with kindness.”
