Minister of Municipality: Our strategic plan for food security (2024-2030) is based on sustainability and innovation

His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Subaie, Minister of Municipality, affirmed that the Ministry’s strategic plan for food security 2024-2030 is based on a set of elements, including achieving sustainability, relying on modern technologies and innovation in the agricultural sector. His Excellency added, in a special statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) this evening on the sidelines of his participation in the tenth edition of the Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition (Agritec) and the accompanying scientific conference, organized by the Ministry of Municipality at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, that the new plan also deals with issues of improving mechanisms Distribution and expansion of sales outlets, spreading them while maintaining prices, improving market mechanisms, rationalizing imports, and enhancing trade exchange with other countries. His Excellency the Minister of Municipality indicated that the ministry is currently at the conclusion of the strategic plan 2016-2023, and on the cusp of the new plan 2024-2030 for food security, whose new initiatives are being considered in cooperation with a house of expertise specialized in this field, and that the next few months will highlight the features of this plan. The plan is more, which is consistent with the third strategic development plan. His Excellency reviewed the great achievements made during the past few years, including the significant growth in cultivated areas, quantity and production, and the initiatives launched by the Ministry to support all sectors of food security, including but not limited to the Distinguished Product Program, allowing the export of Qatari vegetables in order to support farms, and facilitating Access to foreign markets, indicating that the ministry has implemented a project "agricultural census" The first of its kind in Qatar 20 years ago, which gave a clear picture, and provided great information and accurate statistics on the situation in the agricultural sector, which contributed to taking decisions and steps on scientific grounds, the results of which we will see very soon. His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Subaie referred to the ministry’s inauguration of the Aquatic Research Center, which succeeded in cultivating well-known fish species in the Qatari environment in accordance with production protocols, including "Al-Shaam, Al-Subaiti, Al-Safi Grouper, and Shrimp"And he said that there are new varieties that we are working on cultivating and expanding production in, explaining that the ministry has opened four fish markets on the sea in "Al Wakra, Al Khor, Doha and Al Ruwais" To promote fisheries and support producers, all of which are markets that serve the public and enhance sales outlets, noting at the same time the great progress achieved by the State of Qatar in order to achieve self-sufficiency in meat, milk and poultry, at a high quality level. His Excellency pointed to the great turnout for the agricultural exhibition from exhibitors, companies, institutions and business owners from Qatar and abroad, and the praise of all visitors and participants in this exhibition because many of them were able to highlight their work, concluded major deals, and exchanged experiences, which reflects the success of this international event.
