The representative of the Turkish side explained that all goods on this list are blocked for import from Russia, regardless of the country of origin. Tekdelioglu also clarified that the ban came into effect on March 1.
The agency also refers to an EU official who said Ankara had given the European Commission verbal assurances that from March 1 goods would not be shipped to Russia if subject to sanctions and export controls from the EU, US or UK.
At the beginning of March, it became known that Turkey had started blocking the transit clearance of sanctioned goods that are supplied to Russia. The authorities of the republic do not officially comment on the situation, however, market participants and experts associate the actions of customs officials with pressure from the United States.
