Colonel Mubarak Sherida Al-Kaabi, leader of the search team in the rescue operations of the collapsed building in central Doha, revealed that two Asian and Arab women were rescued from under the rubble of the building, and he also revealed preliminary investigations into the causes of the building’s collapse.
Colonel Al-Kaabi said – in statements to Qatar TV – "We offer condolences to the family of the deceased, and we wish a speedy recovery for the injured. During the past hours, an Asian woman was rescued from under the rubble, and an Arab woman is being evacuated from under the rubble in the coming minutes, and operations are underway at the pace of ensuring security and safety for all. ".
He added: Preliminary investigations reveal the existence of maintenance work for the building during its collapse, and an investigation is underway into the safety procedures for these works, obtaining licenses, and whether these works were the main reason for the collapse of the building.
