Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping did not discuss Kiev’s peace plan for a Ukrainian settlement during talks in Moscow, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
“No, the Ukrainian peace plan was not discussed, there was an exchange of views on the provisions contained in the Chinese peace plan,” said Peskov, whose remarks are quoted by RT.
Earlier, Vladimir Putin gave a positive assessment of the Chinese peace plan and said that many of its provisions could serve as a basis for resolving the conflict in Ukraine. But for that to happen, Kiev and the West must be prepared to resolve the issue diplomatically.
In addition, Russia and China have called for an end to any measures that lead to an escalation and only prolong the fighting, threatening the conflict to enter an “uncontrollable phase”.
The leaders of Russia and China, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, held talks in Moscow during the first international visit by a Chinese president after his last re-election.
