A textbook on family studies for teenagers will appear in Russia, reported at the Institute for the Study of Childhood, Family and Education. This organization has developed a training manual jointly with the ANO “Azbuka family”.
On Friday, March 24, the thematic plan for the manual was presented at a meeting of the working group on the introduction of family studies courses into the school curriculum. It took place in the Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children. In addition to the printed version of the manual, the family studies program will include video lessons.
The Institute’s statement explains that the purpose of the manual is to “reinforce traditional family values ​​among young people.” It contains advice on building interpersonal relationships, self-determination, relationships with parents. In addition, the developers of the manual promise that thanks to it, schoolchildren and students will be able to navigate for help with childhood psychological trauma.
Among the thematic sections of the manual are also indicated:
the formation of healthy relationships between boys and girls, aimed at creating marriage, giving birth and raising children; Family values.
The Institute for the Study of Childhood, Family and Education says that teenagers were involved in the creation of the manual, which helped the authors to determine the range of problems that most disturb the youth today.
The Institute’s report stresses that it is now extremely important to work with adolescents on “the formation of traditional family values ​​and the preparation for future family life, the birth and upbringing of children”, because there is a “rather low desire to start a family and have children” in society, which, in turn, “is a significant demographic problem”.
“It is strategically important to educate a generation from kindergarten on in such a way as to form the prerequisites for creating a family and maintaining it, which also requires a lot of work,” said Natalia Agre, director of the Institute, adding that the development developed family studies programs will now be tested.
For the first time, courses on family values ​​in Russian schools began to be held in 2009 in pilot regions, and by 2017 this course had been introduced in 60 subjects of the federation, Remarks “Kommersant”. It is taught as part of other subjects (for example, social studies), or optionally, including during so-called class hours. In 2021, that sections on family studies be included in social studies textbooks, said Deputies of the State Duma, Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov.
In 2015, the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) announced the development of the course on the moral foundations of family life. How transmitted TASS, at the same time, this course was tested as an optional course in schools in the Sverdlovsk, Kaluga, Kaliningrad, Kostroma, Kurgan, Orenburg, Chelyabinsk and St. Petersburg regions. The late Archpriest Dmitry Smirnov, who then headed the Patriarchal Commission for Family Affairs, Maternity and Child Protection, declared the need to include this course in the school curriculum for high school students.
In 2017, with a similar proposal to the Ministry of Education and Science applied “representatives of the parents’ community”, and the initiative was “positively received”.
In addition, in schools of 38 Russian regions, a family science course is conducted according to the teaching materials “Fundamentals of family life” for students and teachers, developed and published within the framework of a joint project of the Russian Academy of Education and Apostle Andrew the First Called Foundation, remember “Psychological Journal”.
