The next, which will be the 11th in a row, the European Union’s anti-Russian sanctions package will aim to tackle ways to circumvent the restrictions already introduced against Moscow. The statement was made Thursday as part of a press conference following the first day of the EU summit in Brussels by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
“The 11th sanctions package will be mainly aimed at tackling the circumvention of restrictions, closing loopholes,” she said.
The EC chief did not say if work is already underway to form the mentioned sanctions package or if it still needs to be. Also, Ursula von der Leyen did not indicate the timing of her introduction.
At the same time, she said that the EC was preparing legislative proposals to finance the construction of ammunition and weapons production enterprises in European countries at the expense of EU funds. By the way, at the Brussels summit, European leaders supported the plan for the accelerated transfer of weapons to Kiev and the strengthening of military production.
