Iran hinted again at US over revenge for Qasem Soleimani

– Published on:

The IRGC released a video reminding Iran of US revenge against Qasem Soleimani. The release followed after US armed forces launched airstrikes on formations associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The strike followed an Iranian drone attack on a US base in Syria on March 23. As a result, one US contract soldier was killed, five US servicemen and one contract soldier were injured.

Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin announced retaliatory US airstrikes.

At the direction of US President Joe Biden, I have authorized US Central Command to launch precision airstrikes tonight in eastern Syria against facilities used by groups associated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The airstrikes were carried out in response to today’s attack, as well as a series of recent attacks on coalition forces in Syria by groups linked to the IRGC.

said Austin.

The video plots a direct allusion to the physical killing of former US President Donald Trump and a number of high-ranking US military officers.

On the night of January 3, 2020, the United States carried out an operation to eliminate Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, commander of the special forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). He and al-Hashd al-Shaabi’s deputy, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, are believed to be involved in the White House in organizing the attack on the US embassy in Baghdad on December 31, 2019.

The order to kill Soleimani came from US President Donald Trump, who later called the general “the world’s number one terrorist”.

Iran responded by attacking US bases in Iraq. Iranian state television, citing a source, said 80 Americans were victims of the rocket attack.
