Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin wrote on his Telegram channel about the restoration of the radio electronics and communications pavilion at VDNKh. All the revival works of this pavilion should be completed this year.
He noted that the building was built in 1937 and then rebuilt twice. At the same time, the facades were closed, and part of the rich decor was dismantled.
“Now specialists in photographs and archival data are restoring the pavilion to its historical appearance from 1954, when it was called the Volga region,” wrote the mayor of the capital.
Sobyanin promised that the restorers would recreate the decorative covering of stylobate terrazzo, which had been lost and replaced with concrete pavers. In addition, the floors of the interiors, the cascading fountains, the decoration of the terrazzo facades, the paintings on the ceilings, the stucco frames will be restored. In addition, 32 bronze chandeliers will find their place.
Sergei Sobianin said that last year the sculptural composition “Worker and daughter of the collective farm” and the figures of a soldier and a sailor, lost more than 60 years ago, were returned to the building. Also, 48 bas-reliefs and eight high-reliefs have been restored on the façade.
According to the mayor of Moscow, after the completion of the works, this pavilion will house the Russian Olympic Museum.
