In the past few hours, pro-Iranian Shiite militias have fired at least nine rockets at a US military base in eastern Syria near the Koniko gas field in Deir ez-Zor province. This was reported by the Arab television channel Al Hadath.
It is specified that some rockets hit the base near Koniko, others fell nearby. According to eyewitnesses, a fire broke out at the base.
Earlier, a missile attack was launched on a US base near the El Omar oil field, as reported by Lebanese television channel Al Mayadeen.
Also, according to some reports, a base in Syria’s Al-Tanak oil region was bombed.
Precise information on casualties and destruction is not yet available.
US military bases in Syria came under fire on Friday, less than a day after the US Air Force attacked Syrian facilities that Washington says belong to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). US President Joe Biden issued the order to strike in response to an earlier Iranian drone raid on one of the US military bases in Syria.
