The head of the European Union’s (EU) foreign policy department, Josep Borrell, has called the wars started by the West in the world a mistake. The diplomat shared similar thoughts in his new book, The Year of the Return of War in Europe, reports RIA Novosti.

The head of European diplomacy noted that most countries “are more sensitive to food and energy crises after wars than to their causes”. Borrell believes that some countries are not ready to take active steps to “force Russia to stop aggression.”

However, Borrell acknowledged that Europe “is sometimes Eurocentric”, which international partners are accused of, when, for example, the EU focuses entirely on the conflict in Ukraine, without noticing other armed conflicts in the world. .

Earlier, Borrell said the EU had almost completely exhausted its options in passing new restrictions on Moscow. He said that in the context of the protracted Ukrainian conflict, this is quite normal. According to him, “it would be strange” if the EU still had a lot of options.
