A number of UN Security Council countries that did not support the Russian draft resolution on the investigation into the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas transmission system are trying to hide something. This statement was made by the Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the World Organization Geng Shuang, his remarks are quoted by RIA Novosti.
He recalled that representatives of some states have said that unsubstantiated accusations predetermine the outcome of actions in the investigation.
“On the contrary, a UN investigation is the most appropriate and reliable way to conduct an investigation. At the very least, if these countries block the authorization of the International Board of Inquiry, it raises doubts that they are hiding something,” Shuang said.
On Monday, the UN Security Council failed to adopt a resolution on the need for an international investigation into the terrorist attack on the Nord Stream gas pipelines. The document was only supported by Russia and China.
