Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed to submit a draft decree on the use of a digital ID card instead of a civilian passport by May 1. This was reported on the Kremlin website.
The Cabinet of Ministers, together with the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, was instructed to submit a draft decree of the President of Russia, which will establish the cases and the procedure for presenting a digital identity card of a citizen of the Russian Federation obtained using the mobile application of the information system “Unified Portal of State Services and Municipalities” instead of documents proving the identity of a Russian citizen.
The deadline for the execution of the presidential order is May 1, 2023, and those responsible are the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, the head of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation Alexander Bortnikov and the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev.
Recall that the issuance of electronic passports in test mode was planned for 2023 in three regions of Russia – Moscow, Moscow region and Tatarstan. In addition to passport data, the developers have provided the ability to enter other information in the carrier – TIN, SNILS or driver’s license number.
