The Turkish president announces the start of construction of 28,000 homes in the earthquake zones in the south of the country

Today, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the actual start of building about 28,000 homes in the areas hit by an earthquake on February 6, in the south of the country, stressing that some village homes will be ready by summer. Erdogan indicated, in statements, that the earthquake area had entered the reconstruction phase, saying that he had begun to build 27,949 homes in the states of Adi Yaman, KahramanmaraĹź, Gaziantep, Hatay and Malatya. Some of the village houses are nearing completion and will be ready by summer. On February 6, two earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, followed by thousands of violent aftershocks, resulting in thousands of deaths and great destruction. The earthquake losses are estimated at 104 billion dollars, and the number of uninhabitable buildings in 11 states in the earthquake area is 298 thousand.
