The State Department has deemed it unlikely that Russian President Vladimir Putin will be arrested by the International Criminal Court (ICC). They also did not dare to give guarantees about this, reports URA.RU.
State Department spokeswoman Andrea Calan did not directly respond to reporters’ question about US compliance with the ICC ruling, which saw the arrest warrant for the leader Russian.
“It’s a very hypothetical question. It’s very, very unlikely that Putin will come to the United States,” Kalan said.
On March 17, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Putin and children’s ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova. The court assumes that they are “responsible for a war crime” related to the illegal deportation of children from Ukrainian territory since February 24.
The Russian leader’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the ICC decision, said Putin did not take the news “to heart” and continued to do his direct work.
Remember that neither Russia nor the United States recognizes the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court. Just like China, India and Israel.
