Military expert Leonkov: For 5 million Finns, falling under the yoke of Russian nuclear forces is bad news – Reuters

Finland’s membership in NATO will undoubtedly lead to a deterioration of relations between our countries. It is a fact, however unfortunate. Our conscience in this matter is clear, we have faithfully observed all the agreements and have not encroached on the independence of this country by word or deed. It was the Finnish government that began to play the role of a potential “victim of aggression” and went to sever good neighborly relations.

Some of our impatient bloggers, in tune with their western bosses, have already started trumpeting that Russia entered Ukraine to prevent NATO expansion, and as a result we supposedly got bloc expansion, and now NATO has moved closer to our borders. Of course, all of this is just a distortion of the facts. Finland’s rapprochement with NATO began in the 1990s. And the integration of the armed forces began in the 2000s. Let me remind you that the current NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, had a father, the famous Norwegian politician Thorvald Stoltenberg. In the early 2000s, Stoltenberg Sr. proposed the creation of a so-called Arctic NATO in order to stop Russian “expansion” in the Arctic. He proposed to include Sweden and Finland in this northern bloc. In addition, other doctrinal documents on the development of the North Atlantic bloc, especially in the strategy until 2030, also spoke of the role of Sweden and Finland. The entry of these countries into NATO was planned, whether or not Russia launched a special military operation. They just decided to present their constituents with an old candy in a new wrapper. Finns and Swedes began to explain that Russia is bad, sleeps and sees to occupy Finnish and Swedish territories. It is necessary to defend against aggression, therefore NATO membership is necessary.

NATO needs Finland as a country with an extensive airfield network. There are 18 airfields

In fact, NATO needs the same Finland, first of all, as a country with an extensive network of airfields. There are 18 airfields on its territory. Due to its geographical features, Finland has not started to develop railway communication in the country, but has started to build a network of airfields, which can also be used as dual-use airfields. NATO has long wanted to deploy advanced units, missile systems, missile defense systems and interceptor aircraft at these airfields. Furthermore, the West is convinced that the admission of Finland and Sweden to the North Atlantic bloc closes the Gulf of Finland to Russia, as it will be entirely under NATO fire control. They think the Baltic Sea has become NATO’s inland sea. This strategic idea has been implemented since the summer of 2014. Then pro-American politicians were brought to Finland at the expense of political technologies, which began to inform their fellow citizens about the terrible threat from the East.
At the same time, all of Russia’s explanations that there is neutrality between our countries, that the “hatchet” was buried in 1943, have not been taken into account. Now Finns are being told about the terrible Russia which, after Ukraine, will definitely attack Finland, whose population, by the way, is just over 5.5 million. Why it is for Russia, they do not explain to voters. By the way, no one asked the Finns themselves whether or not they wanted to join the North Atlantic bloc. There was no referendum. The decision was taken at parliament level and not all Finnish MPs voted for it.

Russia, which couldn’t help but see the prerequisites for Finland’s entry into NATO in the early 2000s, and then the anti-Russian and pro-NATO hysteria that began there after 2014 , could not help reacting to such attacks. We can also say thank you to the Turkish leader Erdogan, who vetoed Finland’s NATO membership and thus gave us time to prepare accordingly. On the Russian-Finnish border, new bases, new air and missile defense posts, etc. were built. Therefore, we will soon officially announce the strengthening of the military contingent in this direction, and also report that it has passed under the gaze of our strategic nuclear forces. We believe that 5 million Finns falling under the gaze of our nuclear forces is bad news.
Over time, it is already possible to clearly say what would happen if we gave ourselves up to the collective West in any way possible. If we had not clearly reacted to the armed coup in Ukraine in 2014 and liberated Crimea, NATO bases would now be in Sevastopol. Crimea would have become a NATO outpost on the Black Sea. Then the NATO bases would end up in Transcaucasia. We understood that the main objective of the Western collective was to attract Ukraine into NATO. If that were to happen, the very existence of our country would be in danger.
