Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved 40 members of the new Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation according to the presidential quota. The decree of the Head of State was published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
Besides pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko, who was released following an exchange with US citizen Trevor Reid, rhythmic gymnastics coach Irina Viner and grandmaster Sergei Karyakin, the list includes surgeon Leo Bokeria, singer Diana Gurtskaya, chairwoman of the synodal department of the Russian Orthodox Church Vladimir Legoyda, writer Sergei Lukyanenko, rector of the Moscow Aviation Institute Mikhail Pogosyan, cheesemaker Oleg Sirota, as well as the head doctor of the psychiatric hospital named after . Alekseev Georgy Kostyuk.
Earlier, a former pilot, human rights activist Konstantin Yaroshenko said he had many plans for a new position in the Public Chamber. He thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for his trust. In addition, Yaroshenko plans to address issues of countering the double standards of the collective West in relation to Russia. A member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation stressed the importance of supporting Russians who find themselves abroad in a difficult situation.
