The Italians did not have time to find him, and less than two weeks later, Uss Jr. found himself on the threshold of one of the buildings of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The persecution of her son suddenly had a positive effect on her family. The fact is that the current governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Alexander Uss, has a rather fragile political position. On certain parameters, he hardly corresponds to the type of regional chief, the “technocrat”, who is so fond of the current presidential administration. First, Uss is already old – he is 68 years old. And he was involved in public policy in the 90s. Since 1994 he has been a directly elected senator. And in 1998 he headed the legislative assembly of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, that is, he became the second person in the largest Russian region. The peak of his political career in a period of open competition for Uss came in 2002. Then he went to the second round of gubernatorial elections, where he was opposed by the candidate and one of the main people in the industrial giant – Norilsk Nickel Alexander Khloponin, the governor of the former Taimyr Autonomous Okrug. The fight was by no means formal. Local media were divided into two camps – for Uss and for Khloponin, the candidates themselves actively campaigned and used all possible methods to win. As a result, Uss received 42%, and the victorious Khloponin 48%.
