• 1925 – the city of Tsaritsyn was renamed Stalingrad (since 1961 – Volgograd).

• 1944 – the liberation of Odessa from German occupation during the Odessa operation.

• 1955 – an agreement is signed between the USSR and China on the construction of a cyclotron and a nuclear reactor in China.

• 1970 – The Russian Orthodox Church grants autocephaly to the American Orthodox Church.

• 1995 – The Party of Beer Lovers is registered in Russia.

• 2010


  • Tu-154 crash in Smolensk: 96 people were killed, including Polish President Lech Kaczynski and other state figures.

-In Kamchatka, an avalanche covered a helicopter with German tourists. Of the 18 people, 10 died.
